Patients Suffer due to ER Closures in Nova Scotia

Nurses have known that the numbers of professionals needed to properly care for the sick and injured are too few. More importantly, so to did upper management and governments. Too many damn studies and misuse of dollars have led to this...http://bit.ly/29S2Q85

The ultimate price will be paid by the Canadian people needing health care. What health care? Canada is joining the ranks of 3rd world countries in their inability to care for their own citizens. And I am hard pressed to believe that our governments really give a rats ass.

BREXIT, the EU Union and You

Is your nursing career being affected by Britain leaving the EU? http://bit.ly/29Kv30S

Please share here your concerns and challenges. There are so manner matters that affect and contribute to the nursing profession world wide. Nurses need to be heard but that will only happen if you speak out.

You cannot rely on union representatives to do this for you; each individual nurse must let their concerns be known. Please write letters to your local papers, send them to radio stations (or get them to interview you), send out your own flyers and newsletters, be vocal on social media....

Effects of Brexit on Nurses

Has Britain's exodus from the European Union affected your job? http://bit.ly/2921qWy
It will be very important now for you to speak up, even go public, with worries, complaints, and REAL world results pertaining to this withdrawl, including how it has affected your career, and patient care.

The ever declining image of nurses.

Too many television programs have scenes showing nurses and ignorant bitches; conversations are short, blunt and uncaring.

Even one program is one too many. Why do we allow this? Why do we tolerate it?

I think we merely talk ourselves in to believing things are better when in fact nothing has changed, certainly not for the better.

So how do we change the future of the profession to one where people do not question the power and influence, the strength and fortitude, nurses possess? I thought I knew; now I am not so sure.

Do you know?

The nursing shortage in the UK

I have been following the nursing shortage in the UK via Nursing Times

The shortage of nursing staff across the globe has been news since before I left the profession over 6 years ago. They are still talking "fixes". This is ridiculous to the point of being downright frightening. No one really cares except the health care consumers who are powerless to do anything about it.

Typical of nursing organizations, health organizations, and governments; all talk, too many damn reports that are merely collecting dust, and no real caring about anyone but themselves.

There is no reason what so ever for this situation to have gone on this long. Canada, the USA and Britain are all supposedly top nations but we can't even do a simple thing like caring for the sick and aging. No, creating new drugs, fancy software programs, new vaccines, or lean hospital designs do not constitute good healthcare. What ever happened to love, true caring for other human beings, and compassion? I believe qwe lost all that when hospitals and healthcare starting catering to "consumers".
